National Delurking Week |
Thanks to Dave Copeland for calling this to my attention. Apparently, this week is National Delurking Weekweek is , which works out quite nicely with what I wanted to write about today. So lurkers? Warm up those fingers and unveil yourself, cause I need suggestions.
See, being unemployed has it's ups and downs. I have to say that the arm chair I am now sitting in is quite a bit more comfortable than any office chair I've ever had. But one of the problems I am encountering at the moment is that, while as much as I love streaming WEEI online, listening to CDs, and watching old DVDs, I'm getting a bit bored with it all. I need cable, and yet? I can't afford it. Especially now that I don't have an income.
So I made a decision to join Netflix and simply rent the DVDs of all the shows I've been missing out on the past well, let's say like three years. Here's where you come in ...
... tell me what to watch.
No joke, I need suggestions here. Not only have I not had cable but I haven't really paid attention to television for years. I don't even know what to rent! I took gambles on Grey's Anatomy and Lost, so those are both on the queue since I hear so many people talk about it I figured I should get in on the loop, but I seriously need some help here.
So fire away, loyal readers and lurkers alike.Labels: misc., Unemployment |

I'm not a lurker so much but I have some suggestions anyway...
Freaks & Geeks Veronica Mars Battlestar Galactica (yes I know it's sci-fi and all but it may be the best drama on TV - seriously) Deadwood
I have Weeds in my queue and I've heard nothing but good things about it but can't recommend it from personal experience yet.

Lost Desperate Housewives Grey's Anatomy ******** 30 Days
Grey's Anatomy is a must if you don't already watch it!!!
-
House (A lot better than those stupid Fox playoff promos made it look)
Firefly (Great show with a great sense of humor. Fox killed it too early. The guy that did Buffy did this show.)
Babylon 5 (Always loved this show. The show was written as if it was a book. Each episode has a story arc. There are small arcs of stories over several episodes. There is another story arc over the entire year. Then there are overarching story arcs that cover multiple years. It touches on a lot of great themes including tyranny, fear, is good and evil inherent or definable, etc. Characters actually grow and change over time. Actions have consequences.)
Twiligh Zone (Do I really need to give a reason?)

I'm delurking. I don't think I've ever commented here, even though I read your blog regularly...
I have to second those that said House. One of the only shows I simply refuse to miss.
Lost, too. Though I'm not sure I like where it's heading...

I'm all for Lost, Grey's Anatomy and House. I have Seasons 1 and 2 of Lost on DVD (though season 2 is on loan at the moment) if you want to borrow them!

Hey FINY:
House (Hugh Laurie is a genius)
The Closer (Kyra Sedgwick and the writing are brilliant--hell, the whole show is brilliant)
My opinion--the 2 best shows on TV...
Enjoy!

Definitly House, it's easily the best show on television in my opinion. 24 and Scrubs are solid picks too. Also the first season of Prison Break was pretty intense.
-
Prison Break and 24, EASILY the best shows ever on TV.. ever!! But we're way behind over here so no telling me what happens!!

And that posted twice... My computer's a little temperamental..

House is very good. Heros! I have enjoyed 24.

arrested development all the seasons, just maybe the funnies (not a word) show that was on TV maybe in the history of TV.
I would say house as well.

For a good movie, I'd recommend "Wordplay" which is about the editor of the NYT crossword puzzle and has interviews with such rad people as Jon Stewart, Bill Clinton, and the Indigo Girls about crosswords. It's a documentary like "Mad Hot Ballroom." For TV, you can't go wrong with Sex and the City or Big Love.

Wow guys, thanks! My Queue is PACKED now! And thanks to those of you I don't hear from that often for coming out of the shadows! I love knowing who's stopping in here.
Oh and Amy? ... I totally already OWN Wordplay :) Love it!
