    Working from the Roof
    ahhh the beauty of technology.

I feel like crap today. I woke up my head hurt, my throat was burning and I was sneezing up a storm. I know I am getting sick and I know it's because of going out too much. So what's the best course of action? Clearly it's to work from home today. So here I sit, laptop in hand, coffee on the table, out on my roof. God this is a great way to work. I swear I'd be more productive if I could work out here every day!

Last night was a lot of fun. I hadn't watched a game at Phebe's (corner of West 4th Street and Bowrey) before. We had an entire back room filled with old Riviera regulars. Was a lot of fun. The Twin got to meet the Welshman, J, and the Rocker, and it went pretty well, though today I did get teased for the two of us holding hands. But at least they didn't make fun of me in front of him.

The game, on the other hand was absolutely abysmal. No one is going to be able to explain to me why, on a night you KNOW you've got a guy who's going to give up runs, on a night you KNOW you're going to need a lot of run support, you sit your starting second baseman and DH. Especially sitting Ortiz. It just made no sense. And it allowed Lima to be able to pitch around Manny. I haven't read the wrap ups yet, but it will be interesting to see what Schilling has to say about the outing. He had brief glimpses of what a healthy Schilling could be like, but he's clearly not ready yet. Meanwhile, the Twin (who was a pitcher in college) noticed that he thinks Schillings stretch is different this year. Anyone else notice that?

How does one go about pitching around someone sitting on the bench? :-D Methinks someone ran into some pronoun over use in that area of her post.

Ahhh...technology does come in handy. I took a sick day this week but was able to get some work done from home. It's so nice to work from home, watch my fav shows, and be with the dogs. And I get sooo much more done. I wish I could do that at least twice every week...

Of course the "pitching around Manny aspect" is why I can't figure out people's desire to jettison Manny for what amounts to pretty petty reasons.

I don't think they understand how much weaker Ortiz would be without Manny. Just as Manny is not as effective without a player of Ortiz's caliber in front or behind him depending on lineup.

Meegan: After sleeping most of the day feeling ready for some beer! You know me, I'm never down for long. But when it comes time to donate my organs someone tell the doc that my liver isn't going to be very useful.

Macca: It was downright freaking painful to watch. There is no excuse NONE for losing to the worst team in baseball.

Itchy: Working from home is SO much more productive. Coworkers can't distract you, the phone doesn't ring and you get less emails. Much more time to actually WORK. Plus, who isn't more comfy in their pjs on the couch than in a cubicle?! :)

Ed: I totally agree, there is no way they should ever split them up. They're one of the most powerful and successful duos EVER. Why would anyone want to screw with that I have NO idea.

      Ick. Hope you feel better.

And yes, absutely I agree about having Manny and Ortiz back to back. I was sooo cranky with people who were willing to go along with the proposed trade.

Phebe's is a GREAT Place to watch The Red Sox & many other teams.
Was watching Red Sox-Devil Rays, on Monday Night, there.

Pedro's pitching tonight @ Shea Stadium.
