Memory Walk 2005 |
I know that this will eventually give away my "real" name but the main reason I don't use my real name around here is because I don't want people to just be able to google the site using it. I just want to get the word out a bit more, so below is the email I sent out to basically everyone I know. There should be a Memory walk in your area too. So get involved!
______________________________________________________
Hi Everyone,
It's that time of year again! On Sunday, October 23, I'll be participating the the Alzheimer's Association, New York City Chapter Memory Walk. This is a cause that many of you know is close to my heart. I know that many of you have had loved ones who have been affected by the disease, as have I, and I wanted to invite you all to participate in the walk, and or donate to the cause.
Proceeds from the Memory Walk go directly to improve the lives of those affected by Alzheimer's, currently more than 200,000 people who live in the 5 boroughs of New York City, as well as their family members and caregivers.
If you're interested in walking with us, or donating to the team, visit my donations page. Thanks, everyone, and I hope to see you on October 23rd!

I have also posted the direct link on my blog.

Your real name? Ha! I've known that for months now. It's right there, hidden in the top corner of the screen.
-
Lol, you are, of course, correct. I hadn't even THOUGHT of that. You're a smart one, Maine. ;)
-
I think it's great what you're doing for this cause. You're awesome!
-
I just donated, and you're now past your goal!
-
When is the deadlines for donations?
I am impressed to see one of the sponsors is Creative Memories. That's where I get like 98% of my scrapbooking supplies and they do a fund raiser each October where you can donate supplies to create an album for a family to put their pictures in either in memory of a relative that is gone or to help a relative keep their memories close by.

Guys, I don't even know what to say. I am really touched by the response I've received to Memory Walk. To hose of you that donated, or are planning to donate, thank you SO SO SO SO much. And to those that can't afford to donate but have sent me your well wishes, it means just as much. Internet hugs to EVERYONE! ______________________________ Michael, your mother will be in my thoughts that day. And thank you for helping me get the word out.
April, Thanks!
Long Iron Thank you SO much, that was incredibly generous.
Amy, I've read the statistics over and over and it's still amazing to me every time I do this how many people come forward with stories of family members who have been affected. My aunt suffered with it until she passed away five years ago, and my uncle is now in the first stages. One of the great things about AlzNYC is that the money doesn't just go to research, but also to support and education programs for families and caretakers of people who have Alzheimer's.
Esther, Thanks sweetie! I can't believe I've passed my goal (for a running tally, at the moment you guys have helped me raise $220!!). I'll give you an extra big REAL hug when I see you next :)
itchy I'm actually not sure of the donation deadline but the actual walk isn't until next Sunday, so I've got all week to keep getting donations.
I actually didn't know anything about Creative Memories before, they sound like a great company. It's nice to know there are those in corporate America who still do things like this! _________________________
I'd like to take a second to thank the Welshman and Meegan who donated as well. I clearly have the best friends and readers in the world! :)

FiNY,
I'll also remember your Aunt & Uncle, when I donate, as well as Mum.
Michael
